I had this by the glass at Marlowe in SF. Crimson red in color, notes of spice and blackberry on the nose. Chewy full bodied, a lot of tannin. Be sure to have some food with this one.

A treasure brought back from Napa by Clarence. Wish I'd taken a more detailed note but I distinctly recall this wine being very smooth and wonderfully aromatic. Only 1800 bottles produced. Paired with pork tenderloin.

a beautiful blend of malbec, cabernet savignon, syrah and petite verdot. after decanting this deep violet wine opens with overwhelming aromas of blackberry, loganberry, raisins and distinct cedar. the Cab and petite verdot give it outstanding structure. the aroma carries over to taste, with chewy tannins and a good acidity. good finish. Great with meat or strong cheese.

Very feminine dessert wine. I have rarely tasted a port of Pinot Noir, and even at 22% alcohol, this 13 year old dessert wine remained deep purple in color. Aromas of stewed black cherries dipped in dark chocolate helped the made this not just a dessert wine, but dessert in a glass.

One of California's finest Cabernet Francs. Velvety and lushlike the best Sonoma County reds, with a very subtle grilled green vegetable note on the nose to remind that it's a Cab Franc. Coffee and dark chocolate notes peek through from the Cabernet Sauvignon.Absolutely delicious.

Extraordinarily sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc. Reminscent of a great white Bordeaux- terrific minerality, with Napa Valley's classic tropical fruit notes for an SB very subtle throughout.

I don't consider myself to be an expert on the Ed Hardy label, but l was shocked/chagrined/bemused to learn there is a wine line under the infamous brand name. So when I was invited to a Jersey Shore watch party you can be sure I sprinted right over to World Market and picked up several bottles of the $9.99 designer label wine.
It's not all rhinestones and bleeding heart tattoos, however. The magenta pink punch would have been better marketed as a sparkling grape juice - a flat and only slightly fruity taste with a dull fizz. I can, however, see its use as a chaser for Jagerbombs...

This was a lovely wine to start the Wine School with. Not overpowering but still delicious with a light fruitiness. Another fabulous warm weather wine.

Pretty in color but a little too sweet for my pinot liking. It would be great with a berry fruit cobbler.

First #wineschool red is light in color and to me this one is more on the light strawberry side vs cherry. I personally prefer a heavier bigger fruit style, but if you like a more subtle style of pinot, this could be for you.

Another #wineschool offering. Also light yellow/straw in color. Intense tropical fruits on the nose. More on the fruity side than acidic.

The first wine in the #wineschool tasting. Light yellow and clear. Crisp and light with a nice amount of acidity and citrus flavors, yet not overwhelming. Easy to drink on it's own.

Delightful, affordable, Italian white from the "boot" of Italy (Puglia). This was the first time that I've tried a Malvasia/ Greco di Tufo blend. It offered terrific minerality, very food friendly acidity, (perfect with A16 Restaurant's signature squid ink pasta, arugula salad, & roast chicken). and a round mouthfeel.
