Continue to run into "can't resist" wine deals in restaurants all the time now. This time I found a Didier Dagueneau at 50% off on the Finders Keepers list at Zibbibo in Palo Alto. This sauv blanc was dark yellow and full bodied like a chardonnay, but with all the fruit characteristics of a typical Loire sauvignon blanc. Smooth, yet thick mouth feel, citrus notes on the finish.

Spy Valley packs an awesome punch with big citrus, and tropical fruit. Aromas include an array of citrus such as orange and grapefruit, the latter being dominant, and a big grapefruit flavor that dissipates into mango and perhaps some star fruit. Wonderful acidity, structure, and balance makes this Sauv Blanc well-rounded. We paired this wine with lemon peppered cat fish, and it couldn’t have been better. Wine Spectator gave it 91 points and it’s a steal at $14. Highly Recommended.

This is an amazing value. I think I paid $13 at Costco of all places. They only had three 2008 left, so I bought them all. If you like grapefruits and oranges with a dry, crisp finish, this is your wine.

"I am not too interested in coporate run wineries, but after my parents' pleasant visit to Markham, I decided to pick up this wine on sale. Glad I did! It paired perfectly with the broiled salmon and tomato and avocado salsa. The wine's well balanced minerality, fruit, dryness, and tartness cut through the rich salmon and avocado and blended in flavor with the acidity of the tomatoes and lemon juice. It was a great wine to pair with food!"
