Winery Story
Te Awa Farm is a unique place. The full name in Maori - Te Awa o Te Atua - means River of God, a reference to the mysterious subterranean streams over which Te Awa Farm sits, and from which its single estate grown wines draw their sublime character. In 1992 the Lawson family -- longtime grape growers -- established the Hawke's Bay property.
Tasting Note
Tangy and crisp with a lovely smooth finish, this Sauvignon Blanc was the best of the bunch. On the nose are delicate tropical notes of pineapple with some crisp pear and a touch of oak. The same crisp, fruity notes continue on the palate with zesty kiwi and ruby red grapefruit flavors.
Te Awa Farms Sauvignon Blanc(W-127) - 2003

Tangy, ZestyI was excited about this wine because I really enjoyed the Crocodillo. However this is a big wine in need of a big meal.Great full wine for a lower alcohol wine. Fruity on the nose with a crisp finish.

Love this SB--more European in style than most New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Tasty and refreshing.

Tried with Thomas, Carolyn & Yale with Brie Cheese and Shrimp appetizers at Carolyn's. Thought it was a bit dull and not crisp enough.

It was sort of between California and Marlborough sauv blanc--not quite as acidic as Marlborough, but more so than California and also relatively full-bodied for a sauv blanc.

Very crisp, maybe a little too much so for my tastes. It's not as refreshing as I had hoped--more of a "sipping" wine.

This was a delicious introduction to the wine club. Ted & I shared this bottle over a little take out Italian food - penne ala vodka. I think Ted liked it even more than I did!

A fruit-centered sweet, pearish aroma; light in appearance; a light, green, sharply complex flavor. I prefer something a bit smoother.

Really nice Sauvignon Blanc... fruity, but not too heavy. It reminded me that I like this variety of wine and should start ordering it more often (along with Chenin Blancs).

Excellent, full-bodied sauvignon blanc with major citrus overtones; distinctive flavor and a tangy aftertaste; perhaps too pungent for a starter but great with a main course, especially fish or a light meat like pork.
