Tobacco Road Cellars is a boutique winery run by two entrepreneurs from North Carolina who share a penchant for California grapes. Four years ago, they went to Napa Valley on a whim to create their own wine to give as holiday gifts. After tasting some of the Cabernet Sauvignon they produced, they realized they had a treasure in their glasses. Following the tradition of excellence known as Tobacco Road in North Carolina, they decided to create a boutique winery committed to producing world-class Cabernet, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. From the succulent grapes they hand-pick, to the high-end French oak barrels they use for aging, to the delicate hand-dipped wax seal, they pay attention to every single detail and demand the highest quality at every level.
Tasting Note
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve offers a deep, dark red with dense purple hues. The nose displays latent notes of black and red berries and the new and second year French Oak barrels mesh, providing deep, dusty oak aromas. A palate shows full-flavored red currant fruit with firm and fine tannin support. Lingering acidity helps to preserve the longevity on the palate whilst complementing lashings of fine-grained French oak flavor.
