What a surprise was this Fred Myer liquor store thoughtless grab! This is a lovely, full bodied wine with bursts of plum and notes of nutmeg. It would do well as a holiday wine, although it also paired surprisingly well the satisfying cheap and greasy Chinese food I had it with- orange chicken, baby eggplant in garlic sauce, and dumplings. For under $20, this was a great deal- I'd definitely buy it again.

98% Zinfandel, 2% Petite Syrah: heavy berry, soft tannins, black cherry, tobacco and carmel-y finish. We luckily scored a case of this at a steal of a price ($17/bottle; normally retails for $40). Estate-grown, available only at the winery (no distribution) - this wine was a rare treat!!

Bordeaux blend. The nose of cedar, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, red currants, and black currants jumps from the glass. Sweet raspberry/cherry fruit, nicely supported with tangy acids and firm, ripe, well-rounded tannins. Streak of smoke and licorice in the finish.

It has a dark ruby color with a deep red edge and displays aromas of fresh blackberries, violets, cola, nutmeg and licorice. In the mouth, the wine has a juicy attack and offers great expression of fruit and spice on the mid-palate. Its fruit-driven finish is long and elegant.

It has its origin in a region located at the north of Italy, province of Verona. Ageing: 18 months in French and American oak barrels. Ruby red color with black shades, and with a good concentration. Good typicity showing coffe and chocolates notes. Sweet, exuberant, with a long and concentrated finish. Potentially good for maturing and ageing . It has ample tannins.

I was looking for a less expensive wine for everyday table. This wine was $8 at Publix. It smelled like cork (but the cork is supposed to smell like wine!). It was dry going in and bitter going down. Maybe this is the dregs of the barrel. Next time I get a Chianti it'll be Carpineto, Collelungo , or Principe Corsini Le Corte or nothing.

Winemaker notes- "An intriguing mix of two red favorites, this blend is deep red carmine in color. Intensely aromatic nose of blackberry and plum fruit is touched with menthol and dry leaf. The Carmenère contributes more mature aromas and sweetness while the Merlot delivers a delicate, soft touch. Medium-bodied on the palate, with loads of red and black fruit, a velvety texture and a juicy, long ending. "

The last of the Cabernet Franc from Adam Firestone's front yard. It's an easy quaffer with bright stone fruit and subtle oak. On sale at Curtis in Los Olivos, and they're running out. Plus, with the sale of Firestone's Los Olivos winery, the CF vines are going away.

Incredible purity, the sprightly '05 Beaulieu Rutherford presents Rutherford Cabernet at its best; superb red currant aromas and flavors introduce dried leaves and sweet earth.

Možná až příliš jemné a sladké italské víno. Oblíbená Lenčina odrůda rulandské šedé.

Výborné, plné, ale při tom není trpké. Škoda, že jich nemám víc, tohle bych mohl pít častěji.

Chilské chardonnay. Patrně odrůda bílého, kterého jsem vypil mnohem více, než jakéhokoli jiného. Nic na čem by se dalo něco zkazit, nádherná medová vůně, sladkost a barva.

For $6.50 at the WA State Liquor Store, you can't beat this when you're beaten down from a long day at work. WA State Syrah, Sangiovese & Cab. Spicy and Bold.

40 YEAR OLD TAWNY An incredible example of an old Tawny port. This wine is olive gold in colour with rich caramel, butterscotch, hazelnut flavours. The concentration in this port also produces a wine with amazing length, which lingers beautifully in the palate. One of my favorites.

Rosemount Tawny Port Solera Aged Old Benson Fine Old NV 97 Points Wine Spectator Dark, sweet and exotic--a sexy wine dripping with toffee, incense, Brazil nut, rose petal, caramel and coffee flavors that swirl around the core of black cherry. A fully rounded wine that lingers long after each sip. Extraordinary dessert wine.

The nose explodes with dried fruit and white pepper aromas. Spice, plum and berry flavors dominate the palate, before broadening into a medium-length finish.

Klassischer, pikanter, rassiger Riesling mit kompakter Steinobstfrucht. Typisch mineralische Noten der „Granitlage“ Rameln verleihen dem Wein Eigenständigkeit und Ausdruck. 13 % Vol. trocken

Herbal notes of basil and thyme with a citrus finish- very refreshing. Since apparently I like to drink wine in order to talk about the wonderful food I had with it, I have to mention what I paired it with. A very unusual shrimp dish is served in the unlikliest of places- a hidden little gem of a restaurant called Haute Grill next to the Brown Jug in Eagle River. The shrimp was lightly accented with orange, then sauted with spinach, apricots, leeks and roma tomatoes, and served over a creamy lemon risotto. The tomatoes in the dish weren't overbearing and the herbal accents in the King Estate Pinot Gris complemented the dish nicely. Great wine and great food; I must make it a regular stop whenever I travel past Eagle River.
